Houghton Hall Park 2017

We are counting down the months until the Visitor Centre is complete. Scrub and tree clearance is now completed which has seen 670 new native trees planted within the park and over 8000 plants including 31 fruit trees (varieties native to Bedfordshire) planted within the new kitchen and formal gardens.

Please see our news section for updates and follow our Twitter and our Facebook page for information.

Our NEW Park Manager, Rachel Orme has joined the team. See our news for the latest.

Below are the latest photos of the park development including the Kitchen Garden and Formal Garden.

Central Bedfordshire Council was awarded a grant of £2.2 million to transform the Park, from Heritage and Big Lottery Funds ‘Parks for People’ grant scheme. This grant will enable us to return the park to its former glory and provide better facilities for the community, including an exciting new heritage Centre with rooms for meetings and activities, a cafe and toilets. There will be new gardens, improved paths, better woodland management and lot of opportunities for people to get involved in gardening, archeology, wildlife improvements and a whole range of events with something for everyone.

Find out more about this project on the Renaissance and Renewal Project page.
